Meet Maizie, a 3-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who is currently enrolled in the shelter's Shy Dog Program—and she's already making some great progress! Maizie may be a little reserved at first, but underneath that shy exterior is a calm, affectionate girl who is learning that people and new experiences aren't so scary after all.Once she's comfortable, Maizie is easily handled and enjoys exploring her surroundings. She likes to stay close to her people and will happily lean in for pets, as if to say, `Yes, this is nice. Please continue.`She's also getting better about going indoors, which is a big step for this sweet girl. New situations and unfamiliar people may still make her a little nervous, so Maizie will need a patient family willing to let her warm up at her own pace.Maizie isn't looking for a life of wild adventures and chaos. She's more interested in quiet exploration, gentle affection, and finding her favorite person to stick close to. Give her time, patience, and a little encouragement, and you'll get to watch her confidence blossom. Her progress is already pretty wonderful—and helping her discover the confident girl she can become could be incredibly rewarding.
