Description

Moose is currently living it up in a foster home! If you are interested in meeting him, please call the shelter so we can coordinate with his foster family. (:There’s something incredibly special about Moose. He isn’t the loudest dog in the room or the one demanding all the attention. Instead, he quietly wins people over with his gentle nature, easygoing personality, and the kind of companionship that just makes life better. Over the past 100 days (as of August 31st), Moose has become one of our favorites, and getting to see him thrive in a foster home has only given us more reasons to love him. Whether he’s heading out on a Miles & Mutts adventure, attending an off-site event, exploring Alaska’s trails, or simply relaxing at home, Moose carries himself with the same calm and respectful demeanor that makes him so easy to be around. New people don’t seem to faze him—he’s happy to say hello, soak up a few scratches, and make another fan wherever he goes. Moose has proven to be an excellent adventure buddy who truly enjoys getting out and experiencing life. He loves exploring, playing a good game of tug, and has discovered that water sports are definitely his thing! He has even mastered burning off some energy on a doggy treadmill. While Moose enjoys having fun and staying active, he doesn’t need constant entertainment to be happy. After a hike, a game, or a little adventure, he’s more than content to relax by your side and enjoy a quiet afternoon together. He truly offers the best of both worlds. His good manners are just another reason we adore him. Moose appears to be potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, and already knows several basic obedience cues, including sit, down, come, and shake. His foster family has also been working with him on “drop it,” “stay,” and sitting politely at doorways while waiting for his next cue. Moose is a well-mannered boy who seems to enjoy learning and is continuing to build upon the skills he already has. When it comes to other animals, Moose continues to impress us. He has done great with all of the dogs he has met in foster care and enjoys their company, though he does carry himself as a confident, dominant male. He seems happiest peacefully sharing space with his canine companions rather than constantly roughhousing. Moose has also been unbothered by the cats in his foster home! Like any dog, Moose may need a little time to adjust to a new home and routine, but he has given us every reason to believe he will settle in beautifully. The only thing this wonderful boy is missing is a family to call his own. Although he greets each day with happy steps and a wagging tail, we’d love nothing more than to see him trade his shelter stay for a couch of his own and his temporary adventures for a lifetime with a family who loves him. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with wonderful manners, an adventurous spirit, a gentle heart, and a personality that seems to put everyone at ease, Moose may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for.
