Description
Yeti found himself unwanted and in a high kill shelter in West Texas. He is good with other dogs and people, and is indifferent to cats. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training to be successful. Yeti has been in MN for a couple of weeks now and his personality is really starting to shine! He is an amazing loyal companion. He has incredible house manners: potty trained, crate trained, quiet besides short alert barks if someone is arriving. Due to the alert barking he would not be best suited for apartment living. He did very well with bathing and grooming, gets zoomies after baths. He doesn't shed alot right now, but we are sure he will when the seasons change. The only potential behavior to watch for is occasional counter surfing. Gentle, slow positive reinforcement training will be key. His favorite activities so far seem to be true Pyrenees pastimes: exploring the outdoors, taking long walks and jogs, wandering through meadows, observing the activities of the house. He doesn’t care much for toys, but loves marrow bones. He ideally would like a large yard that has a physical fence. He was not the biggest fan of the leash, but with gentle patience he has improved greatly and enjoys going for walks. He loves going for car rides. We is fine as the only pet. He doesn’t need constant attention, so his owners could leave him at home during work. However, he is still young so he requires extended time outdoors and long daily walks. He is friendly or indifferent to cats, he is good with dogs (though would not do well with dog parks as he prefers slower intros and lower energy initally). He even did well with a pet rabbit. He has been around young kids and toddlers (needs some time & space to warm up to their fast movements/noises). He would do best in adult only home even if there is not another dog in the home. IF there are kids in the home, another dog is a must and will help him feel comfortable with the kids and adjust. While he looks like a giant stuffed animal, he is not a fan of having kids/people in his face, this should be considered when applying, he will need time to trust and allow them into his personal space should he choose to allow it. He enjoys a good snuggle on the couch as long as you respect his boundries and loves belly rubs. If you are looking for a calm, gentle guardian who loves exploring the outdoors, you need to check out Yeti!
