Mercat (7-9 years old) Mercat’s  gray tabby face with green eyes reveals a sedate and calm lady who has been around long enough to know just what she wants: one or two kind people to call her own, a relaxed home with no kids, cats, or dogs, and special sleeping places up on a couch, shelf, or cat tree. She’s not a fan of sleeping on the floor, thank you very much. She enjoys being petted and brushed, and she will sit beside you, letting you know that she enjoys your nearness. She is slightly hard of hearing and often doesn’t wake up right away when you walk into the room. When she does waken, it’s with a ready hello from her slightly raspy, loud voice, and a quick request for your attention. In her own cute way, she can be downright insistent upon love. And as much as she needs love and approval from her special people, she needs her alone time (aka “beauty sleep”). In an adult-only home that offers the perfect balance between peaceful social time and her necessary “me time,” Mercat will thrive.  Mercat would be a good cat for seniors.
