Description

King is the ultimate family dog!  He’s sweet and cuddly, chill but still playful, loves other friendly dogs, and is very gentle with kids.  King was originally adopted from DAS as a puppy in 2019.  He lived with a family for about seven years until that family had to move somewhere that he wasn’t allowed to go, so he ended up back at DAS due to no fault of his own.  His foster mom recognized that he was a gem of a family dog and scooped him up to give him a proper chance with a new family. And the family that chooses him will be SO LUCKY!.  He’s such a good, sweet, and easy going boy. King is a very well behaved gentleman in the home.  He doesn’t chew on anything except toys and bones and he is completely housebroken.  His only requirement is being close to his people. He really appreciates a kennel as a safe space, but he also wants to be with you.  So if his kennel is closed and you leave his sight for a while, he might bark because he misses you and then will settle. He’s around 8 years old and about 80 lbs, but he would do great in any home, from a small apartment to a farm. As long as has a soft bed near you to sleep on, he is good to go. He’s chill but not lazy, relaxed but enjoys an adventure. He went to loud, crowded World Cup watch parties and was the best boy. He would be an awesome office dog and a fun companion for dog day at the ballpark. He just wants to be with his people. He’s got a big deep “woof” when he does bark, so if you’re looking for a protective dog, he’s got your back with his love, size, and big voice. But he’s also very sensitive and trainable, so he will welcome anyone you say is okay with gentleness. King tested heartworm positive when he arrived back at the shelter in February,  but he’s received treatment and will be retested for free by DAS to confirm the treatment was successful.  Beyond that he is happy, healthy, and an easy keeper. His foster mom would keep him if she could.  He’s the first foster she’s had that she wants to “foster fail” but they have another male dog that has decided he’s no longer welcome.  It’s not King’s fault.  He deserves the world.  He deserves a loving family. If you are the lucky one who gets to be his forever person, King will do his very best to make you happy and love you every day!  Please consider taking a chance on King today!
