Description
Meet Gizmo - The Unlucky One Who Deserves a Lucky Break Gizmo didn’t get the easy start. And he hasn’t had the easy middle, either. But he is still one of the sweetest, most loving dogs you’ll ever meet — and he’s waiting for the person who sees past the challenges and chooses him because he’s worth it. Gizmo is 1 year and 4 months old, neutered, microchipped, and UTD on vaccines and heartworm preventative. He was born with spinal dysraphism, a congenital spinal canal defect that gives him his signature “bunny hop” gait. He also has mild left hip dysplasia. Some days he walks and runs with that funny hop; other days he may drag his hindquarters. Because of his mobility issues, he can develop sores that need monitoring and care. And yet… Gizmo is still full of joy. He loves snuggle time, loves car rides, and loves dogs of all sizes. He’ll probably adjust to cats with time. He’s house trained, though he may have a poop accident if he gets overly excited. He’s not the best fit for children — he needs a calm home, gentle handling, and someone who understands that if he’s hurting, he’ll let you know he needs space. His foster dad says it best: “If you are the type of person who looks after the unlucky ones, please get to know Gizmo.” Gizmo is handsome, affectionate, goofy, and deeply loyal. He has shown some resource guarding, and he needs someone who will respect his boundaries, manage his environment, and give him the structure he thrives on. He is not a dog for everyone — but he is the perfect dog for someone. If you’re the kind of person who sees a dog like Gizmo and thinks, “I can give you the life you deserve,” then he’s waiting for you.
