Description
Rowen came to MCHS on 4/23/2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a Reservation in South Dakota. He was in a home for some months in 2025, but it did not work out, even though his adopter tried very hard with him. Rowen bonded very closely to her and was not tolerant of her husband or outsiders. However, we are not giving up on Rowen as we do believe that his perfect fit is out there, somewhere. His adoption fee is sponsored. Rowen's DNA was submitted for testing by a volunteer a while ago, and it came back that he is approximately 25% German shepherd and 75% pit bull type dog. Our volunteers have become very fond of Rowen over the years, having spent time with him since his arrival in 2022, when he was about a year old. He is now around 5 years old, knows his shelter routine, and is incredibly affectionate with the volunteers and demands belly rubs. However, everyone does not want Rowen to stay in the shelter forever. Rowen has had basic training and enjoys a good, brisk walk and playing fetch. He would benefit from continued training and boundaries, as he does like to push them. He's looking for an adult only home without a lot of foot traffic. He's a happy and outgoing dog with a slight mischievous streak that is kinda endearing. Importantly, he needs to be the only pet in the home and would do best with a fenced yard. He is a big, strong, and active dog who will require regular exercise to keep him happy and well balanced. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications can be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.
