Description
Meet Butter Butter is a roughly 2-year-old, 40-pound sweetheart who has come an incredibly long way. If you met Butter today, you’d probably never guess just how far she’s come. Butter arrived at the shelter as a stray with her sister, likely having never lived in a home or spent meaningful time around people. She was terrified of nearly everything. Walking past a standing person felt impossible. A leash was completely foreign. Even going outside was too scary. But Butter was given a chance—and she has absolutely run with it. The once-feral girl who was afraid to walk near people now walks beautifully on a leash and has discovered that Hampton Park walks are one of life’s greatest pleasures. She loves meeting new doggy friends, happily tags along to cafés and coffee shops, and is perfectly content to settle down next to you and watch the world go by. Butter is a low-energy dog who enjoys a daily walk or playing with a friend, but she’s equally happy spending the day on the couch. She has truly mastered the art of the rot day. Her favorite place in the world is still the couch, preferably where she can spend a few hours snoring away. At home, Butter is completely potty trained and crate trained. She’s dog-friendly and loves having canine friends to play with, but she also knows how to settle nicely and do absolutely nothing. Butter may be a little shy when she first meets someone new, but these days, that hesitation doesn’t last very long. Give her a little time to check you out and get comfortable, and her sweet, affectionate personality starts shining through pretty quickly. She’s become such a well-rounded, brave little dog. She can go for a walk, make new friends, hang out with you in public, settle nicely at home, sleep in her crate, and navigate a world that once terrified her. Butter’s past will always be part of her story, but it doesn’t define the dog she is today. Today, Butter is curious. She’s social. She’s silly. She’s affectionate. She’s adaptable. And every new experience seems to make her just a little bit braver. She was once a dog who didn’t know how to live in our world. Now she’s ready to find someone to explore it with. And if that exploring happens to end with a nap on the couch? Even better. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, prevention and dewormed. She is heartworm positive but being treated using the Advantage Multi method. We will continue to provide her doses until she tests negative. Her adoption fee is $350.
