Description

 * This dog will be at the Pet Food Express Pet Fair - San Jose North on Saturday, September 12th and Sunday, September 13th from 10AM–3PM both days (unless adopted prior to the event).  5148 Stevens Creek Blvd, San Jose All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $750 Meet Blender: The perfect blend of sweetness and love!   Blender is a 1–2 year old, 9-pound Westie-poo with a tender heart and an adorable talent for turning into a full-time couch potato. She can be timid when she first arrives, but once she feels safe, her tail starts wagging and her sweet, affectionate personality shines through. Blender loves being held, enjoys cuddling, and is happiest simply relaxing near her people.  As a mix, she does shed; she is a low shedder but will likely not be an option for people with serious allergies.   The Daily Blend   Blender wakes between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. and heads outside for a potty break before breakfast. She prefers to graze, typically finishing her meal within an hour or two. While her foster family works, Blender spends most of the day lounging, with potty breaks every three to four hours and a few treats sprinkled throughout the day.   Dinner is served between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. At approximately 10:30 p.m., Blender settles into her crate and sleeps soundly through the night.   A Gentle Little Companion   Blender was timid during her first couple of days in her foster home and initially felt too nervous to potty outside. Once she learned that she was safe, everything began to click. She now greets her foster with a wagging tail, has had no further accidents, and has been relatively easy to care for.   Blender has shown different sides of herself in different homes. In one foster home, she was playful, energetic, and always ready for fun. In her current home, she has embraced the quieter life and spends her days lounging rather than playing with toys. She may become more playful as she grows comfortable, but she is equally talented at settling in for a lazy afternoon.   Dogs, Cats, and Kids   Blender peacefully coexists with the foster family’s 18-pound female Terrier. The two have exchanged polite sniffs but otherwise do their own thing. When the resident dog starts an enthusiastic game of fetch, Blender watches curiously before deciding that supervising from a quiet corner sounds much more appealing.   She has not been tested with cats or children. Because she is petite and can be initially timid, any children in her future home should understand how to interact gently and respectfully with a small dog.   Home Life and Training   Blender has done well with a consistent potty routine and has not had an accident since her first few days. She does not yet feel comfortable walking on a leash. When encouraged to walk, she currently flips onto her back, so her adopter should be prepared to introduce leash skills gradually and patiently while keeping her safely secured.   In her current foster home, Blender has not been a barker, digger, or destructive chewer. However, a previous foster reported that she could be quite an enthusiastic chewer, so her future family should provide appropriate chew toys, puppy-proof the home, and supervise her while she settles in.   Blender’s Ideal Home   Blender would love a patient home looking for a cute, sweet, and lovable little companion. She needs people who will allow her to adjust at her own pace, help her build confidence on leash, and give her plenty of safe things to chew. In return, Blender will bring tail wags, cuddles, and a wonderfully mellow presence to the mix.
