He was pretty depressed when he first came in but is slowly accepting the fact that this is his home until another approved one comes along. Ollie gets along with other dogs but we think he could also be an only dog if the new owner is a stay at home or works from home. We are pretty sure cats are a no! He will bark when new people come into the home but we are working on that but once they are in and settled, he’s ok. He makes a good watch dog! As always when you adopt a rescue dog the key is patience. Ollie deserves to a last forever home, can that be you? Our must haves for Ollie are: Fenced in yard Someone home more than not Another adult to senior dog small not big Sorry no apartments, condos, high rises and he does like to alert you to strangers knocking at the door If you are interested in adopting Ollie or knowing more about him you can email aadrpresident@gmail.com. I’m happy to answer any question and tell you all about him so you make the right choice for your family because we don’t want to see him returned again.     ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
