SNOOKIE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!  Name: Snookie             Best Guess for Breed: Pitbul mix   Best Guess for Age:  5 years as of June 2026      SEX:   Female  Estimated Weight:  46lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs!  We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!    Special adoption considerations: Snookie is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure they can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. I'm Snookie, and I'm ready to leave my past behind and start the happiest chapter of my life. Lucky Dog volunteers found me on the streets of Puerto Rico shortly after I welcomed four brand-new puppies into the world. I did my best to be a good mama despite having so little. Now that my babies Sugar, Scottie, Selene, and Sunny are safe and off to get their own homes, it's finally my turn to find a family of my own and experience all the love and comfort I've always deserved. I'm dreaming of a home filled with soft beds for cozy naps, lots of cuddles from my favorite people, and plenty of yummy treats (I think I've earned a few!). While I don't need to live with another dog, I'd love opportunities to make canine friends on walks, at the park, or during fun playdates. I enjoy being social and would be thrilled to have buddies to romp around with from time to time.Most of all, I'm looking for a family who will show me that I'll never have to worry about where my next meal, nap, or hug is coming from again. I've already been through so much, but my heart is still full of love. All I need now is someone to give me the fresh start I've been waiting for—and I promise to fill your home with gratitude, happy tail wags, and endless cuddles.
