He is a little reserved at first, but if he is with another dog who is socialized, he realizes it’s okay to be happy and friendly. Spurgeon gets along with male and female pups, but we are going to say "no" to cats. We think he would be fine with children, but they have to be at least 10 years old since he could knock a younger child down in his excitement. He does need to be with another dog; he can't be an only dog. Spurgeon has a great personality; he just needs a home where it can shine! If you are looking for one handsome dude, he’s your guy! Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
