Description

Victor is proof that sometimes the best dogs come in the most unexpected packages! At just 1 year old and 18 pounds, Victor is a ridiculously cute little mixed breed with the head of a Shepherd, the body of a Dachshund, and the tail of a Pekingese! Basically, he’s a one-of-a-kind original! And his foster family has nothing but amazing things to say about this sweet boy. Victor is a super sweet, smart, easygoing guy who has settled into his foster home beautifully. He was initially a little timid, but within about 24 hours he was comfortable and happily became part of the pack. He absolutely LOVES other dogs and has done wonderfully with both his foster family’s Shepherd and Basset Hound. He follows them around, plays, wrestles and even enjoys a good game of chase.Because Victor gets so much confidence and happiness from his canine friends, we strongly recommend a home with at least one other friendly dog. Victor is housebroken, crate trained and leash trained, making him about as close to a turn-key dog as you can get! His leash walking continues to improve, especially when he can follow his dog friends. He knows the basics and is highly trainable. He’s also a relatively quiet guy, with very little barking except for the occasional excitement during play or when he spots another dog.He has met cats and has mostly ignored them. If a cat takes off running, Victor may happily decide that means it’s time for a game of chase! But there is nothing aggressive about his behavior, and with some patience and training, his foster believes he could do well in a home with cats.Victor has also been wonderful with his foster family’s 9-year-old child. He can get excited and jump up, so very young children would need supervision, but he is gentle and sweet. He does have a little bit of young-dog mischief in him. He enjoys picking up socks, slippers, toys and bones and would love to explore the furniture if allowed. He hasn’t destroyed anything, but his family is wisely keeping tempting treasures out of reach.Victor is a medium-energy, friendly and social boy who loves sniffing around the yard, playing with his dog friends and being part of the action. He may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once he knows you, he’ll happily seek you out.His foster summed him up perfectly: “Super easy. If you need a turn-key dog, this is the one.” Victor is neutered, healthy, good on leash, crate trained and ready to find his forever family. All he really needs is someone to love him—and preferably a dog sibling to follow around and play with! bcaaofnj.org
