Description

Meet Cooper! Cooper is a 6-month-old, 25-pound Terrier mix with a whole lot of sweetness packed into his playful puppy self! He may need a little time to warm up, but once he gets to know you, his happy, affectionate personality shines through. This boy loves toys, especially rope toys. Give him a rope and he’ll happily play tug-of-war, fling it around, and entertain himself with his favorite toy. He’s also very treat-motivated, which makes him eager to learn and a great candidate for continued training. Like any young puppy, Cooper is still figuring out the world. He’s working on his recall and leash skills, and he’s still teething, so he can be a bit of a chewer. He’s also a vocal guy—he may whine for a minute or two before settling down. His future family should be prepared to give him patience, consistency, and plenty of positive reinforcement as he learns.Cooper is making significant progress and is surprisingly brave once he gets some encouragement. He can be nervous about random things like swings, garbage cans, rocks, or even silly objects that catch him off guard, but he typically overcomes those fears quickly when given reassurance. He can also get nervous when neighborhood dogs bark at him, but when he actually gets the chance to meet dogs, he is submissive, sweet, and does well.Cooper enjoys other dogs and could do especially well with a confident canine companion who can help show him the ropes, though he could also be happy as an only pet. With cats, he is curious and wants to play if they run, but he is perfectly capable of sharing space with a cat who ignores him. Since Cooper is still just 6 months old, his ideal home will understand that he’s a puppy with lots of learning ahead of him. A fenced yard would be ideal for giving him a safe place to play and explore. Cooper currently does best with several short play and enrichment sessions throughout the day, balanced with plenty of puppy naps. He’s playful, goofy, curious, and occasionally startled by the funniest things—but underneath it all, he is simply a sweetheart who is trying his best to figure out the big, exciting world around him. If you’re looking for a fun-loving puppy who will keep you smiling and who is ready to continue growing into an amazing companion, Cooper might just be your guy!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200.
