Description
Meet Ocelot!Ocelot came to the shelter on 6/16 as a stray, he can be a nervous guy. The shelter enviroment is too much for him to handle and he is very overwhelmed in this enviroment. The important part of Ocelot's story is that there is more to him than those moments. He showed real progress during his first stay, approaching unfamiliar people to sniff and even allowing a stranger to pet him. He remained nervous outside of his kennel, but with people he trusted, we saw a much softer and more comfortable side of him.Ocelot was later adopted but returned after snapping at family members, including a young child. Upon returning to the shelter, he bit a staff member and is currently under quarantine. These incidents are important to take seriously and show that Ocelot needs a placement that understands his boundaries and can give him the right environment to succeed.Ocelot is not a dog who is going to win everyone over in five minutesâand that's okay. He needs someone willing to let trust happen on his timeline. His previous progress tells us he can connect with people when he feels safe, but the shelter is not the easiest place for him to show that side of himself. He would benefit from an experienced placement that can provide patience, structure, clear boundaries, and plenty of time to decompress.
