Description
Animal Information: Chili was brought into the Stanislaus shelter in California as an owner surrender with a senior dog. The senior was adopted and she was left behind. This poor girl was so shut down and terrified that she was immediately at risk for euthanasia, because no one wants to adopt a small black dog that cowers in the back of the kennel. Chili spend a couple of weeks in a California foster, where it was discovered that she loves other dogs. She takes time to warm up to people, but is sweet wants to make friends. Foster Profile: Meet Chili, a sweet little soul with a big heart waiting to blossom. She’s a gentle girl who takes her time feeling safe, so she’ll thrive best with a patient, understanding home. While she’s still building confidence around people, she’s beginning to trust by allowing gentle pets and touches when she’s ready. With love and consistency, Chili has the potential to become a deeply affectionate and loyal companion. She’s already potty trained, enjoys cozy crate time, and is slowly revealing her clever, playful, and spunky side. Chili gets along wonderfully with dogs of similar size, though she feels more comfortable around smaller or same-sized friends than with larger dogs. Due to this, Chili does require a home with another dog. She’s not quite ready to be picked up yet, but every day she’s showing more curiosity and courage. The right family will have the joy of watching her transform into the loving, confident dog she’s meant to be.
