She was found tied to a cinder block in front of an animal shelter in Tennessee, but you would never know it from her loving, happy personality. She seems incredibly grateful to have a safe, loving home and is thriving in foster care. She is housebroken, walks beautifully on a leash, and has wonderful house manners. She sits patiently for meals and snacks, comes when she’s called, and is non-destructive - she doesn’t need to be crated and happily has run of the house with her foster brother and sister. Mellow has plenty of fun energy! She loves playing with her Pyr/St. Bernard foster sister, but she is equally happy lounging around with her favorite chew toys. She loves cuddling on the couch and is always ready for a good outdoor zoomie. She has been wonderful with both the resident male and female dogs from the moment she arrived, blending into the pack in less than 24 hours. Mellow also adores people! She loves everyone she meets, greeting them with a wagging tail and hoping for hugs and pets. She has met children while out on walks and has been very sweet with them. She is not a digger and is generally a quiet girl, barking only when someone walks by the house. While she loves getting outside for walks and playtime, she definitely prefers being inside with her people. She enjoys being brushed, playing with her toys, going for car rides, and even attending doggy daycare. When it comes to treats, she enjoys dog biscuits and is warming up to healthy snacks like carrots, apples, and other pieces of fruit. Mellow is kind, and gentle, and she is one of the sweetest dogs her foster family has ever fostered. Mellow would do wonderfully in a home where she has people to love, cuddle, and enjoy walks with. She would thrive with other friendly dogs in her forever home. She has also enjoyed walking around the city of Columbus with her dog walker and going to daycare. A home with a 5-foot securely fenced yard would be great, but she could also be very happy as a leash-walk-only dog. Mellow’s greatest quality is her ability to immediately become part of a family. Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues.
