Hi. I’m Mortey. I’m 5 years old, a Husky/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, and at around 65 lbs., I have been informed that I am a large dog. I disagree. I am clearly a lap dog who was accidentally issued an unreasonable amount of body. I’m a big-hearted, playful, ridiculously loving guy who is VERY tuned in to my people. Sad? I’m coming over. Need a cuddle? On my way. Trying to go to the bathroom alone? Seems unnecessary, but okay. One of my favorite things in the world is other dogs. I get excited to meet new friends, love to play, and I’m actually pretty good at reading the room. If another dog says, “Dude, not right now,” I can take the hint. I’ve lived happily with another dog and have also done well with visiting dogs. I love people, too. I can be a little nervous when I first meet someone—especially men—so I appreciate humans who give me a minute to figure them out. But once I decide you’re one of MY people? Congratulations. You have acquired a Mortey. And Mortey is gonna LOVE YOU. I’m affectionate, loyal, goofy, and always ready to play. I’ve also lived with young children and done great with them, although sometimes I forget that I’m a rather substantial gentleman. I’m house trained, smart, and a quick learner. I enjoy walks and may start out a little excited because HELLO, WE ARE GOING SOMEWHERE, but I settle in nicely. My ideal family will be active enough to keep my brain and body busy. Give me walks, playtime, toys, an adventure here and there, time with my humans, and I am one happy dude. Basically, I’m five years old, which means we can skip a lot of that tiny-puppy nonsense while still having plenty of energy for fun. So there it is. I’m Mortey—part Husky, part Rhodesian Ridgeback, part emotional-support bestie, and approximately 97% heart.
