While visiting a local park, Balto was discovered there all alone and when his finders realized that he didn’t belong to anyone there, they took him with them for the evening until we opened the following day. While at home with his finder, Balto did great with the older children in the home - ages ranging from 8 years old to 18. He was kept in an outdoor enclosure, since they were not familiar with him and they let us know that he was a wonderful guest! They had another dog and only noted that their dog just barked at him. He did great on walks for them, only pulling when he saw a squirrel! He did great in all of his medical exams, and even for his pre-op exam, where we discovered the ‘less is more’ method of restraint for this guy, works best! Since he has been here, he has met a slightly larger spayed female and was so calm throughout their time together. The two new pals just walked around on leash and sniffed outside, one another and then outside again! Too cute! We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption to ensure a great fit for all. We don't know how he does with cats and have no way to test for that.All of our adoptable dogs/puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and UTD on all age-appropriate vaccines/preventatives. Adopters will need to establish vet care upon adopting to maintain their new family member’s health and wellness. We are a first come, first served and in-person adoption center and are located at 430 Bristol Drive in Statesville, NC. We are open for adoptions Monday-Friday 12-5pm and Saturdays 11am-2pm.
