Meet Miss Swanky — The Girl Who Refused to Be Overlooked ❤️ Miss Swanky is a gorgeous brown tabby girl with a story that could have ended very differently. She started her life surviving on the streets before someone finally caught her and brought her to a shelter. You would think that would have been the beginning of her happy ending. Instead, her world was turned upside down. Miss Swanky was placed on the euthanasia list. Why? Because she had ringworm. Ringworm is completely treatable, and thankfully someone saw that Miss Swanky deserved a chance. A wonderful foster stepped forward, treated her, cared for her through weeks of recovery, and gave her the time she needed to become completely healthy again. But while Miss Swanky was recovering, she was also growing. And her foster began to worry. Miss Swanky was becoming an older kitten, and brown tabbies are often some of the most overlooked cats in shelters and rescues. There wasn't anything wrong with her. She wasn't less sweet, less playful, or less deserving. She simply wasn't getting noticed. That's when her foster reached out to us, and we couldn't say no. Miss Swanky joined our rescue and moved into a new foster home, where she is finally getting the chance to show everyone who she really is. And she has already made a very special friend. Lady Benny. Miss Swanky and Lady Benny are quickly becoming best buddies. They play together, run around together, wrestle, explore, and keep each other entertained. Watching their friendship grow has been incredibly sweet. Ironically, they also have something else in common: Miss Swanky and Lady Benny are two of our most overlooked kittens. Why? Maybe because they're brown tabbies. They may not have the unusual colors or markings that immediately catch someone's eye while scrolling through adoption photos, but spend a little time with them and you'll realize how much personality, love, and joy can be hiding behind those beautiful striped coats. Miss Swanky is playful, curious, social, and loves being around people. She loves to run, explore, and be part of whatever is happening around her. She's still perfecting her cuddling skills, but she's learning more every day that people can mean safety, love, and affection. She also knows exactly what she likes when it comes to dinner. She can be a little picky about her wet food, but her dry food? Absolutely. No complaints there! After everything Miss Swanky has been through — surviving outside, landing in a shelter, almost losing her life because of a completely treatable condition, spending weeks recovering, and then being overlooked — she deserves something she has never truly had before: A family of her own. Maybe even a home with her new best friend, Lady Benny. ❤️ Don't scroll past the brown tabbies. Sometimes the kittens who don't immediately stand out in a photo are the ones who will completely steal your heart once you meet them. Miss Swanky has been waiting long enough to be someone's first choice.   Part of adopting a kitten is recognizing that they are babies, and you will get to see firsthand how their wonderful natures develop! Prior to adoption, all kittens are spayed/neutered, tested for FIV/FELV, vaccinated and microchipped. Kittens under 5 months old must be adopted with a buddy or into a house where there's a kitten-friendly pet. This kitten is currently in a foster home. To meet this kitten, please fill out an adoption application so that we'll have your contact information, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. www.thedancingcat.org/adopt
