Description

Toby is a 6-year-old, 13-lb total sweetheart  who loves everyone he meets. Despite a recent change in his life, he remains a incredibly happy, calm, and affectionate dog. If you are looking for a loyal shadow and a gentle family companion, Toby is your boy! Toby loves people and is great with the kids he meets on neighborhood walks.  He lives beautifully with other dogs and puppies in his foster home.  He also successfully lived with cats in his previous home. Toby bonds deeply with his people.  He especially loves his foster dad and is a true, devoted friend. Toby is generally pretty calm and enjoys relaxing, but he still loves to play with toys and chase puppies every now and then. Toby especially LOVES his foster dad and will whimper when he's not with him.  He's getting better -- we were told that he did this for a while in his first home when everyone started leaving the house again after Covid. Toby is up to date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $500.  As a diabetic dog, he needs a fairly disciplined feeding schedule (no free-feeding or grazing), and high-protein food. He also needs someone willing to give him insulin shots twice a day, and someone willing to take him to the vet every 3-4 months to check his sugar levels and to ensure that the insulin dosage continues to be appropriate. We believe that the benefits of having such a loving, well-behaved dog far outweigh the special efforts he requires. He will bring fulfillment to his loving family. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training  prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.
