Description
Meet Marty — 20 pounds of fluffy puppy fun with a whole lot more growing to do! Marty is a happy, energetic Great Pyrenees mix who has never met an adventure he didn’t want to investigate or a person he didn’t want to greet. At just 12 weeks old, he already weighs 20 pounds and is growing like a weed, so we expect this handsome boy to eventually become a big, beautiful 70-pound companion.Marty and his sister were found wandering in a small Indiana town and were lucky enough to come into rescue rather than face an already overcrowded shelter. He is now thriving in his foster home, where he has other dogs to keep him company and a newly retired foster mom who is thoroughly enjoying having a front-row seat to all of Marty’s puppy antics. And there are plenty of antics!Marty is playful, curious, affectionate, and full of that irresistible puppy enthusiasm that makes you laugh even when he is getting himself into a little trouble. He loves people and other animals and has that easygoing, friendly nature that is so wonderful about Great Pyrenees. He is still learning that not every human or dog appreciates being greeted with the same level of excitement he brings to the party, but he is a very good student and is learning how to channel all that enthusiasm into appropriate manners. His foster mom, Lisa, describes Marty as a quick and eager learner, and he is already making steady progress with basic commands, leash manners, and crate training. He is also doing very well with his housebreaking and, with another few weeks of consistency and a good routine, should be very close to having it mastered.Marty is going to be an active boy, and we are looking for a family who will enjoy that side of him. He would love people who want to take him along on adventures, continue working with him as he grows, and appreciate the goofy, playful personality that comes with a young Great Pyrenees mix. He would also be very happy having another dog around to play with and learn from.As he matures, Marty will develop into a gorgeous semi-long-haired dog — fluffy enough to have that unmistakable Pyr look, but not quite as heavily coated as some Great Pyrenees. And underneath all that future fluff is a smart, loving boy who is going to make someone an absolutely wonderful lifelong companion.Marty is one of those puppies who is going to grow up before you know it. Today he is a big, goofy puppy with oversized paws and a growing body; tomorrow he will be your 70-pound best friend who believes every day should include some fun, some adventure, and plenty of time with his people.Marty is ready for his forever home now in the Tennessee area. For adopters in the Northeast, he has a spot available on the September 11th transport if he is pre-adopted.If Marty sounds like the big-hearted, active, slightly goofy puppy you've been waiting for, email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.
