Birthday: July 8, 2024 Sakina is a sweet, shy girl with a gentle heart who is slowly discovering just how wonderful it feels to be loved. Sakina came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation that was discovered after her owner passed away. More than 40 cats and kittens were left behind in a home that was quickly becoming unlivable and heavily infested with fleas. After such a difficult beginning, Sakina is now learning that people can be kind and that she never has to go without love and attention again. Sakina is still shy and cautious, but she's making progress every day. When she becomes comfortable with someone, she'll come over seeking attention and happily accept pets. She has the cutest little habit of circling around while she's being petted, as if she wants to make sure you don't miss a single spot! And when Sakina gets really happy, she does something absolutely adorable that I call her “prancing biscuits.” Instead of making biscuits while sitting or lying down, Sakina stands up and moves her front feet back and forth like she's kneading an invisible blanket. It's her very special way of showing just how happy she is. It's obvious that Sakina has been starved for attention, and now that she knows how wonderful it feels, she's determined to soak up every bit she can get. She's especially enthusiastic about wet food. When she sees her meal being prepared, she'll excitedly jump right onto the table to make sure she doesn't miss out! Sakina does well with other cats and is comfortable living alongside feline companions. She hasn't shown much interest in playing with them yet, but she may simply need more time and confidence before that playful side comes out. Because Sakina is still learning to trust and can be easily overwhelmed, she would not do well in a home with young children. She needs a calmer environment with older, respectful children, ideally ages 13 and up, who will understand that earning her trust takes time. Sakina isn't looking for a busy or chaotic household. She's looking for someone patient who will appreciate the little victories—the first time she approaches you, the first happy circle around your legs, and especially the first time you see those adorable prancing biscuits. She has so much love waiting to come out. All she needs is someone willing to give her the time and kindness to let it happen.  Sakina's adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay.
