Welcome to the farm Meleys! Meleys is a one year old great pyrenees who was purchased from a local petstore who purchases dogs from puppy mills. Her owner was no longer able to keep her so we were contacted. Meleys has settled in quickly and is dog, cat and kid friendly, pays no attention to chickens. Loves people She is crate trained, up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. She currently weighs about 70 pounds. Barkdogfarm.orgPlease visit our website for more info on our adoption process and adoption application www.barkdogfarm.org                         Before applying be sure you have thoroughly researched Great Pyrenees.  They can be stubborn, prone to barking, overly protective and cannot be off leash.  You WILL NOT train a pyr to boundaries.  Please be sure all family members are in agreement to adopting and your family is ready to bring dog home now. We only adopt in the New England area. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. We do not have blanket criteria regarding adoptions. Each applicant is considered based on many things including but not limited to breed experience, yard ( visible fence preferred) and other animals in home. We try to avoid dogs with same sex households as pyrs typically do not do well with the same sex. A volunteer will be in touch to discuss your application and the dog to determine if it is a good match. Your vet and two references will be called.  A virtual home visit done. Once approved a meet and greet at the farm will take place.  If all are in agreement  an adoption contract will be signed and adoption fee paid.  Adoption fees for dogs are $500. for adults over 12 months, $600 for puppies 12 months and younger as well as small breed dogs. Fees for seniors, special needs or harder to place dogs will be determined by our Board of Directors. All dogs will be altered when adoption is finalized. This may involve young puppies be given until a certain age to be altered. All animals are up to date on age appropriate core vaccines, negative for parasites, heart worm and lyme tested if 6 months or older, microchipped and have a current health certificate.  Proof of a basic obedience course completed is part of our adoption contract within six months. Our descriptions are based on shelter evaluations, input from foster homes and interactions with our volunteers but are in no way a guarantee of temperment. We show animals by appointment only.
