Description

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Kirk #1 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 72 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Kirk #1 | 9–10-Month-Old Border Collie | Your Smart, Playful New Best Friend Kirk is a handsome black-and-white Border Collie who is still coming out of his shell and discovering that the world isn’t quite as scary as he first thought. He was found as a stray and was understandably nervous when he first arrived, but he has already made tremendous progress. He is a fast learner, very food motivated, and responds beautifully to praise, affection, and treats. He is also a total social butterfly who loves people and has done wonderfully with the dogs in his foster home. Kirk is house trained and does well when left alone with his canine foster siblings. He spends his time napping, watching squirrels out the window, or collecting his favorite toys in his bed. He loves stuffed toys, tennis balls, bones, walks, car rides, and especially playing fetch. He is still a little hesitant about new experiences, including getting into the car, but once he gets going, he settles in nicely. He is also learning his leash skills and has already made great progress. As you would expect from a young Border Collie, Kirk has plenty of energy and will need a family ready to provide lots of exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation. He would love a home with another friendly dog, as having canine companions seems to give him confidence and helps him feel more comfortable trying new things. He also loves kids and could make a wonderful family dog. Kirk is a sweet, playful, affectionate young pup with a lot of potential. He may need a little patience as he continues gaining confidence, but he is already showing what a wonderful dog he can become. As with any dog settling into a new home, occasional potty accidents can happen while he adjusts to his new surroundings.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $400. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 72 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.
