* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, September 5th from 12–3 PM (unless adopted prior to the event). All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $800 Meet Owl   Owl is a 5 year old, 9-pound Pomeranian with a gentle spirit, an adorable personality, and enough silly quirks to keep his future family smiling. He may be shy when meeting someone new, but there doesn’t seem to be a mean bone in his tiny, fluffy body. He happily accepts pets and scratches, gives sweet little finger kisses, and becomes increasingly affectionate as he feels safe.   A Typical Day   Owl gets up around 8 a.m. and waits quietly in his crate until he realizes everyone is awake. At that point, he’ll announce that he is ready to begin his day! He is a pretty easygoing guy who is content to nap nearby while his foster family works. In the evenings, he enjoys being placed on the couch so he can relax with everyone.   Owl sleeps in his crate at night and stays there when his foster family leaves the house. He may bark for a few minutes, but then settles down nicely.   Delightfully Owl   Owl has enough funny quirks to make every day entertaining. He has decided that stairs and furniture require human-operated transportation, so he won’t walk up or down stairs or jump on or off the couch by himself. Once he is placed beside you, he’ll remain there until someone provides a lift. When picked up, he stretches all four legs straight out like a tiny Pomeranian starfish!   He also walks in little circles and prefers his kibble scattered on the floor instead of served in a bowl. Apparently, dinner tastes better when it comes with a miniature scavenger hunt.   Dogs, Cats and People   Owl really likes other dogs and has been completely appropriate with the resident cat. He showed mild curiosity but mostly leaves her alone. He would likely enjoy having a friendly canine companion, although one isn’t required.   Owl has also been calm and nonaggressive with new people entering the home, including a workman. He is shy at first but remains sweet and gentle, happily accepting pets once he feels comfortable. He has also done well riding in a stroller.   Walks and Adventures   Owl is still getting accustomed to walking on a leash. He putters around his foster family’s complex without pulling, chasing, or reacting to things. Occasionally, he stops for a moment while he decides whether he is ready to continue. He hasn’t gone on long walks yet and currently seems best suited to leisurely neighborhood outings and stroller adventures.     The Perfect Home for Owl   Sweet, quiet, and endearingly peculiar, Owl is looking for a patient family who will give him time to settle in and appreciate him exactly as he is. In return, they’ll get a tenderhearted little companion who is always ready for a gentle scratch, a cozy couch nap, or an impromptu starfish impression.
