Description

Minka is a beautiful 1 year old spayed female cat, up to date on vaccinations. Although in foster care as a solo cat, she has previously lived with another cat and would do well with cats but not dogs. Here’s what her foster volunteer says about her after only 1 week in foster care:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Affectionate, active, and curious. She’s extremely outgoing and has no difficulties whatsoever with shyness. She adores being among and around people. Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes   If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? On her head particularly, and she enjoys pets on her body and belly for short periods.   Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? She was reluctant at first to let me touch her back and flanks, but has since warmed up to that.   Does the cat come on your lap? Yes, but she generally prefers to sit near my feet.   Does the cat like to be held? Yes, she likes to be held closely and never complains when I pick her up.   Does the cat sleep in your bed? Yes, she alternates between the bed and a windowsill right next to it.   Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, she greets me at the door and follows me from room to room. Does the cat like to play? Yes, she’s very active.   What are the cat's favorite games and toys? She loves to chase balls and springs across the floor and will often play fetch with them. She also enjoys tossing her toy mouse and sometimes plays with a feather wand. How vocal is the cat? Moderately — she chirps when waking up and meows when she wants attention or loses a toy under the furniture.   What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Meows and chirps — she growled once when she heard someone walk by the door with a barking dog. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes, several times per day.   Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? A half can of wet food in the morning (she doesn’t always finish it) and about a quarter cup of dry food per day, free feeding.   Is the cat picky about food? Not at all.   What is the cat's favorite treat? Churu of any flavor, and she also loves greenies.   What medication is the cat on, and how is it administered? N/A Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? She gently taps me if I pet her belly after she’s tired of it.    Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No   Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Once, when I was cutting her nails — it was very gentle.   Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? She was very social when she first met me — didn’t hide but explored the house and interacted with me right away.   If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? I have no other animals at home. She growled once when she heard someone walk by the door with a barking dog, but she never repeated that behavior.   Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? She’s a very avid biscuit maker — her favorite locale is the fuzzy shower rug in my bathroom. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? She’s a wonderful combination of energetic fun and gentle sweetness. I’d describe her as a vivacious young girl with a patient heart. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? She’s still getting comfortable with her paws being touched for nail trims and has warned me gently with a swat or open mouth a few times. I’ve been cutting them one or two at a time when she’s relaxed and then offering treats as rewards — I think she’ll become much comfier with the process once she associates nail trims with positive stimulus.
