Understanding who she is will help her find the family she truly needs. Star is a sweet, sensitive girl who may be hesitant at first, but once you earn her trust, you will be rewarded with the most loving and loyal companion. She needs a calm, confident caregiver who will show her that she is safe and protected. When Star knows someone has her back, she is happy to leave the “driving” to them and simply follow their lead. Her foster family includes one woman, one man and two children. Because her female caregiver spends the most time with her, Star has formed her strongest bond with her. We feel she would thrive in a home where her primary caregiver is a woman. Her foster family patiently gave her the time and space she needed to feel comfortable, and now she happily soaks up their gentle pats and affection. Star is shy when meeting new people, so patience is essential. Give her time to observe, gently toss her some treats and allow her to become comfortable at her own pace. Little by little, she will come closer—and then return for more! Watching her trust grow is incredibly rewarding. Being part of Star’s journey as she begins to bloom is incredibly special. There will be many beautiful milestones along the way—and probably more than a few happy tears. Star would benefit from an active family who will keep both her mind and body engaged. An activity such as agility training could be wonderful for building her confidence. When Star is focused on learning and having fun, she soon forgets that she is scared. Recently, Star’s foster family enjoyed a well-deserved week-long vacation, so Star stayed in another foster home. This was a wonderful opportunity to make her world a little bigger and show her that she could feel safe in new places, too. For the first two days, Star dragged a leash in the home while becoming familiar with her new surroundings. She had wonderful company in her temporary foster sister, Annie, who is the same age. The two quickly became like peas and carrots! Star followed Annie around, learned the household routine and settled in beautifully. Once she was settled, Star was gently encouraged to come closer for affection. Her foster mom would pick up her leash, guide her over and reassure her with gentle pats. Star was very curious whenever something was happening and didn’t want to miss out! Her curiosity encouraged her to join in and helped her become increasingly comfortable and involved with the family. Star is one smart cookie, and she truly wants to please. She requires a confident, balanced canine companion in her new home. Another dog helps her feel secure, understand new routines and learn that the world is a safe place. We truly cannot express what a sweet and amazing dog Star is once she lets you into her heart. Star isn’t looking for someone to rush her—she is looking for someone who will believe in her and give her everything she needs to continue blossoming. If you feel you can offer Star the patient, active and supportive home she deserves, please submit an application. In return, Star will give you her whole heart. ❤️
