She is the energizer bunny. She needs another dog that is 3 yrs old or younger to play with because she LOVES to play. If you have a dog older than 3 yrs do not apply. If you are not able to keep up with her, do not apply. We know how she is and she’ll wear you and your older dog out then be bored. She will steal your shoes, socks or underwear. Anything that is within her reach she’ll steal and take off with. Kids eight years and older are fine as long as they know how to respect a dog’s space. Once Gigi has worn herself out, she’ll love to cuddle with you and is very sweet but once she gets her second wind she’s off again on new adventures. Don’t let these things stop you from adopting the sweetest little girl and she’ll be a ton of entertainment for you.  She does have a high prey drive so no cats, squirrels or other things that are not dogs, as she will hunt them down. She will be ready for her new home after Sept 1st. If you are wanting more info, you can email her foster mom with questions but please do not ask for more pictures, we were lucky to get these because she is so busy. aadrpresident@gmail.com   Our must haves for Gigi are: A fenced in yard Another young small dog(3 yrs and under) for her to play with Someone home more than not No apartments, high rises or condos/duplexes(shared walls)     ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
