General info
Description
OTHER PETS: Lily is a playful, outgoing, energetic young dog whose desire to play may be a bit much for some other dogs. She previously lived with a tolerant older female dog, and would likely do well with another `role model,` a well socialized dog who can provide positive dog-dog interactions. Lily should meet any dog she would be living with prior to adoption. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone experienced with positive reinforcement, or willingness to learn would be best, especially with a young pup who will need guidance.[Some Experience] KIDS: Lily can be anxious in new environments and around new people. An anxious pup will need to decompress and take time to feel comfortable in a new environment. Giving space when requested and going at her pace will go a long way in developing trust and helping her feel safe. She may be bouncy at times and unintentionally knock children over. Her best fit will be with older children who can respect her space and understand body language (link about body language under the RESOURCES tab on our website). Minors and dogs should always be actively monitored to be sure everyone is safe and comfortable. [15+ (dog savvy)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: When fully comfortable Lily loves to run around, interact with her trusted people, and enjoys outings & sniffing. As a young pup Lily will need someone with a schedule that allows the time and commitment needed for a developing young dog. A combination of regular exercise, combined with plenty of mental enrichment such as food puzzles, games, sniffing time, and learning new tricks will help meet her needs and prevent boredome. As a young dog she'll also need plenty of rest in between. [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: Regular visits to the vet will help Lily stay happy and healthy.[Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement and effective management will help Lily learn important life skills and fun tricks, create a strong bond to her guardian, and help build confidence, all while having fun. [Moderate] GROOMING: Brushing and baths on a regular basis will help decrease shedding in the house.[Minimal]
