Description
Meet Misty! Misty is a 7-year-old, 15-pound Maltese/Schnauzer mix with the softest bunny-like fur and a very sweet, affectionate personality once she feels safe and comfortable. Misty is cuddly, loving, and enjoys being close to the people she trusts. She is potty trained, walks well on leash, and has fairly low exercise needs. She’s generally a mellow little companion at home and can be very responsive to training and attention one-on-one. Misty does need a special adopter who understands that trust takes time. She experiences significant separation anxiety and struggles when left alone, even when other dogs are present. She is also fearful of unfamiliar people and dogs and may bark intensely when encountering strangers on walks, in the car, or when visitors come into the home. While she has not bitten anyone, her anxious jumping and guarding behavior can be overwhelming, so she would do best in a calm, adult-only home without children or elderly family members who could accidentally be injured. Once Misty knows you, she can be wonderful with men, women, dogs, cats, and the people in her circle. Her challenges are primarily centered around unfamiliar people and situations. She is not comfortable in a crate and would need an adopter willing to work patiently and consistently on her separation anxiety, confidence, and stranger reactivity. Misty may not be the right fit for every household, but for an experienced, patient adopter who is willing to give her structure, training, and time to feel secure, she has so much love to give. Misty is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $300.
