Slate- such a good boy

Description

Slate is a handsome, well mannered boy who is looking for a fresh start. He is currently with one of our partner rescues in Louisiana and can come to NJ with an approved foster or adopter.     Slate is a 3-year-old black lab mix. He was surrendered after being adopted as a puppy due to a divorce. He is a very well-behaved dog. He is house-trained, kennel-trained, and he rarely barks. He can be trusted to be left inside without a kennel and isn't destructive. He also grew up with two human babies so he is great with young kids. He does have some energy to burn so another playful dog, someone who will throw the ball with him, or someone who takes walks or runs weekly would help a lot. He does love water, and even though he hasn't been swimming in a large body of water, he does express interest in the backyard with a kiddie pool and hose.   He is overall healthy and was well loved and cared for. He is ready to love his new family and wants the opportunity to be loved unconditionally in return.   Slate is fixed, micro-chipped, and up to date on vaccines. His  adoption donation is $500.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.
