We truly appreciate your patience while we work through this issue — and thank you for wanting to help a rescue dog    — Loyal Rescue   Name/Tag#: Lukey 4810 Age: 9 months Sex/Altered: Male/ Neutered Weight: 10 lbs. Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Foster Home Location: PETERBOROUGH, ON Adoption Fee: $950.00 Temperament: Affectionate, curious, playful Activity/Energy Level: Bursts of puppy energy otherwise fairly calm Up to date on Shots: Yes Housebroken: No, but working on it and it’s going well Crate Trained: No, Lukey does better in a safe, sectioned off space of the house Ok with Dogs: Yes Ok with Cats: Unknown Ok with Kids: Yes, 6 years of age and older Requirements: Securely fenced yard, someone home most of the day, kids 6 years old +, companion dog in the home, and a safe, secure, and comfortable space in the home that he can share with companion dog when his people must leave him at home   And now, a few words from me: Hi, I’m Lukey!   I’m a little guy who loves my people. I want to be with them all the time. I also love being part of the action and in the middle of whatever is going on. I will be your shadow, and as soon as you sit down, I’ll be there to jump up on your lap for a snuggle and nap. If you’re busy and I’m too tired to follow you, I’ll usually find a cozy spot near a furry companion and settle in for a little rest. I get excited to go on walks, and when I’m in the backyard, I love to run around as fast as I can! After that, I’m happy to slow things down and enjoy a good nap. I feel comfortable in familiar places, but it doesn’t take me too long to settle in and feel at home somewhere new. I’m ready for a family who will include me in their adventures, give me lots of love, and let me grow into the happy little dog I’m meant to be!   And now, a few words from my foster mom: Lukey is such a sweet little guy who just wants to be wherever his people are. He loves following us around the house and being included in whatever we’re doing. If we’re busy, he’ll often curl up with his foster sibling for some company. If we must leave him at home, he has done well in a safe, secure section of the house with his foster siblings. He is doing well on a leash and has been loving going for walks with his foster siblings. He also enjoys zooming around the backyard, playing with his toys, and is always curious to explore a new space. He is learning to go potty outside and will need a continued consistent schedule to help him succeed with this. He will also benefit from continued socialization as he grows and gains confidence in new situations and environments. Lukey was born with a small deformity in one of his rear paws. It doesn’t slow him down at all, and you wouldn’t even notice it when looking at his paw from the top. It’s only apparent when turning his paw over. Despite this little difference, Lukey runs, plays, walks, and zooms around the backyard just like any other puppy. Lukey has those fun little bursts of puppy energy, but he settles nicely and is happiest when he has people and another dog around. Because he really thrives on companionship, it will be important for him to have a friendly companion dog in his forever home and someone who is home for most of the day. He’s a loving, curious little companion who would really thrive in a home where he can be part of the family.
