Rita #7 | 1 year and Husky mix | Your Sweet Little Shadow Rita is a sweet, easygoing Husky mix who has quickly become a wonderful houseguest. She is house trained, crate trained, and perfectly content spending the day relaxing in her crate while her people are away. She may whine for a few minutes when you first leave, but then she settles right in, usually napping or happily working on a frozen Kong. She also sleeps peacefully through the night. Rita loves being with her people and is an absolute sweetheart when it comes to affection. She loves praise, pets, belly rubs, and will even put her paws up on you for a hug when you bend down to her level. She is friendly with people and has been very sweet with children. She also does well with other dogs, although she reportedly showed some resource guarding around a couch with another dog, so continued attention to sharing spaces and belongings would be a good idea. Rita enjoys walks, car rides, and being outside. She has a strong prey drive and will definitely notice birds, bunnies, and other critters, so she can pull when something interesting catches her eye. She has also made great progress walking past other dogs and does much better when they ignore her. She is still learning about cats and is working on resisting the urge to chase her feline foster sibling, but she is responding well to redirection and "leave it." Rita is somewhere between medium and high energy and is wonderfully adaptable. She can enjoy a 20-minute walk or a longer 60-minute outing and still settle nicely at home afterward. She is a quick learner who responds especially well to praise and affection, and she is very much a "match your energy" kind of dog. Whether you are looking for a walking buddy or a sweet couch companion, Rita is ready to be your girl. Accidents can happen as any dog adjusts to a new environment, but Rita is already doing exceptionally well with her house training. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $400. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 72 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!
