Description
Apollo had a family at one time. They let him go outdoors, and when they left the country on an annual trip, they left him outside. Then, one time, they just didn't come back. They had moved to another country and left Apollo alone and outdoors. Neighbors stepped up to make sure he had food and then the day came when he didn't come around to eat. He was not seen for a very long time, and when he finally showed up, he was matted, wounded and depressed. The neighbors raised enough money to take him to a veterinarian and got his wounds cared for and had him neutered. Unfortunately, they were planning to put him back outdoors so the vet reached out to a Heartland foster to see if we could take him in. Of course we said yes!Apollo is a senior, between 10-12 years old. He was very depressed and sullen when we got him. He was ok with pets, but stayed curled up and slept. With every day, he became more open to us and within a couple of weeks he was greeting us when we came into the room. Now that he is out of quarantine, we are really seeing him blossom! He loves his people! He is a snuggler, loves to be right next to us, and doesn't mind being petted or brushed for as long as we want to. Sometimes when we stop petting him, he gently reaches out for more. He also gives lots of kisses! Apollo is FIV+ which means he has a compromised immune system. He doesn't require any medications but does need to be kept indoors and any medical conditions should be addressed immediately. So, really no different than any other cat! Apollo has become buddies with Illene as they are roommates. He loves to groom her and she loves being groomed by him ! He is neutered, microchipped, FELV neg, vaccinated, dewormed and given flea treatment. If you are looking for a laid back, gentle fluffball, Apollo may be right for you!
