Adoption Fee: $700 If you’ve ever met a petite Chow girl with a beautiful smile, a fancy little trot, and a serious appreciation for sunshine, you already know how easy it is to fall for Broccoli Beef. At just 35 pounds and 3 years old, Broccoli Beef is a petite little Chow with a sweet, gentle spirit and a whole world she is discovering. She came into rescue still figuring out that people, homes, and all the strange things that come with them can actually be pretty wonderful. Now she is beginning to show us the girl underneath that initial uncertainty—and we think she is going to be something very special. Broccoli Beef is curious about everything. She loves exploring her surroundings and has become quite the little house inspector. She likes wandering through the house, checking things out, and taking in everything around her. Outside is where she really shines. Give her a backyard, a little sunshine, some fresh air, and room to trot around, and you can practically see her discovering what it means to simply be a dog. One of our favorite things about Broccoli Beef is her smile. When she is outside, happy and comfortable, her whole demeanor changes. She prances around the yard, chases birds, enjoys the wind on her face, and soaks up the sunshine. Watching her become more relaxed and confident is incredibly rewarding. She is not a wild, high-energy girl. Broccoli Beef is much more of a lounger with occasional backyard zooms. She is perfectly content to spend time relaxing, but she definitely has a little spring in her step when she is outside enjoying herself. And this little girl has been learning that good things come from people. She recently took a treat from her foster's hand for the first time, which might sound like a tiny milestone—but for Broccoli Beef, it was a BIG deal. It was one of those moments that tells us she is beginning to trust and that there is so much more of her personality waiting to emerge. Broccoli Beef doesn't need someone who expects her to instantly become a social butterfly. She needs someone who understands Chows and understands that sometimes the sweetest relationships are the ones that grow slowly. Her ideal family will be patient, kind, and willing to let her set the pace as she continues discovering the world. She would love a home with a secure backyard where she can enjoy the outdoors, stretch her legs, and do her adorable little trot. A doggy door would probably be her idea of architectural perfection because having the freedom to wander between the house and yard would suit her beautifully. Broccoli Beef is the kind of girl who doesn't need a lot of commotion. She will appreciate a peaceful home and people who understand that earning a Chow's trust is a privilege. Give her time, consistency, affection, and a little patience, and you'll get to watch something wonderful happen: a beautiful little Chow slowly realizing that she is home. We suspect that once Broccoli Beef decides you're her people, you're going to have one very devoted little shadow on your hands. Right now, she's still learning exactly what this whole human-and-dog friendship thing is about. But she's making progress, and every little breakthrough gives us another glimpse of the happy girl she is becoming. She has already discovered the backyard. She has discovered sunshine. She has discovered the joy of running with the wind in her face. She's discovered that treats from humans are pretty fantastic. And she's starting to discover that humans can be trusted, too. Now Broccoli Beef needs the right person to finish the discovery with her. If you understand Chows, appreciate their unique personalities, and have the patience to let a sweet girl come into her own, Broccoli Beef could be an incredibly special addition to your family. She's petite. She's beautiful. She's curious. She's got a fantastic little trot. And that smile? That smile is going to be very hard to resist.
