Description

Location; Manchester, MD Meet Dolly — Professional Pocket Dog & Part-Time Farm Supervisor  Looking for a best friend who would happily climb into your pocket if she could? Meet Dolly! Dolly is a 2-year-old cattle dog mix with the classic cattle dog combination: smart, energetic, curious…and completely convinced that cuddling on the couch is an important part of her job description. ❤️ Dolly loves people. She has done well with adults and younger children and is friendly with people, kids, dogs, and livestock. She plays wonderfully in a group of dogs and seems to enjoy having canine buddies around.  Farm life? She’s got that covered. Dolly lives on a farm in her foster home and is interested in the sheep, goats, and horses—but so far she has been respectful and stays on the outside of their fences. She likes to know what everyone is doing without necessarily needing to be in the middle of it. ⚡ Cattle dog energy without the cattle dog insanity. Give Dolly a good chance to run and play during the day, and she settles down nicely and is very quiet inside. We would describe her as having a mild-to-medium energy level. She can absolutely turn on the cattle-dog zoomies, but she also has an excellent OFF switch—and the couch is one of her favorite places to demonstrate it.  Road trip partner: 10/10. Open the car door and Dolly jumps right in. She rides quietly in the back seat, watching the world go by through the window like a seasoned traveler.  Bedtime is easy. Dolly sleeps quietly in her crate overnight and willingly goes into it when asked.  Her education is still underway. Dolly uses a pet door, although she still needs reminders to head outside for potty breaks. House training is definitely a work in progress. Her leash skills could also use some polishing. Her foster home is a farm, so leash walking isn't exactly part of the daily commute! She is developing a strong recall, and we're currently working on sit and other basic manners. Dolly's history before coming to us is limited. We know she was previously adopted and later returned to a shelter when her adopter was unable to afford veterinary treatment she needed in April 2026. That chapter is behind her. Today, Dolly is vibrant, affectionate, playful, and ready to find her family. She is already spayed and is up to date on vaccines and preventatives. Most importantly, Dolly is ready for a person of her own. Preferably one with a couch. And perhaps unusually large pockets. ❤️ Interested in meeting Dolly or have questions?
