General info
Description
Meet Brownie, the tan terrier mix. Brownie came to the Shelter as an owner surrender after her previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her. Brownieâs previous guardian reports that she is house trained in her previous home and will whine to let her person know she has to go potty. Brownie has been social with staff and volunteers since her arrival. Her previous guardian reports that she may be selective with her dog friends (primarily large breed dogs). Any resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. High traffic dog areas like dog beaches and parks may be too much for Brownie, especially right after being adopted. Brownie has seen cats in her day to day in the previous home and did not chase them. A home with a dog-savvy feline may be a fit with a slow, thoughtful introduction. Brownieâs favorite things to do in her previous home were go for walks and play with toys. Balls are her favorite and fetch is best! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
