Max is an approximately 10-month-old, 11-pound terrier mix who has already come such a long way. He was found as a stray severely matted and in need of some TLC, and his foster family has been patiently helping him learn what it means to feel safe and loved.Max is a sensitive little guy who needs a calm, patient home where he can continue building confidence at his own pace. He is still learning that pets and affection are a good thing and is not comfortable being picked up. Because he is easily startled, he may react defensively when frightened and will need a patient home that respects his boundaries.Max is dog- and cat-friendly, but he would do best in an adult-only home without the hustle and bustle of young children. A home where his person is around most of the time would be ideal, as Max thrives with consistency and companionship. He isn't a big fan of his crate yet, either, so his family will need to continue helping him feel comfortable with it. Max is making progress with his house manners but is still learning to leave the marking behind and will need continued consistency with his house training.Max isn't looking for a busy household or someone expecting an instant cuddle bug.
