Description

Meet Puppy Grace Some puppies enter the world with everything they could possibly need, while others have to start out wherever life happens to place them. Puppy Grace and her eight siblings were born underneath a shed in a very rural part of Tennessee. For the first four months of their lives, a kind family who owned the shed watched over them, making sure they had food, water, and care, even though the puppies’ momma did not belong to them. Thankfully, Momma has since been spayed and adopted, and now it is Grace’s turn to find a family of her own.Grace came to our attention about two weeks ago, and she has quickly shown us what a very special little girl she is. She is a yellow Lab mix, just 4½ months old and currently about 25 pounds, with a gentle nature that seems to be woven into everything she does. When you approach her, Grace may simply lie down on the ground and watch you. We think she may need a little help discovering that the world is a safe place and that she is capable of being brave. There is no rush with this girl. We can already see the confidence waiting to emerge. For Grace, learning to walk nicely on a leash will be more than just another puppy skill. We think each little step will give her something much bigger—a sense of accomplishment and the beginning of a new picture of herself. A girl who can learn, explore, trust, and eventually realize that she doesn't have to lie down when someone comes toward her. She can stand up, walk forward, and see what wonderful things might be waiting around the corner. And Grace has already shown us that she knows how to be part of a family. She fits beautifully into the dog pack at her foster home, where she is gentle, sweet, and wonderfully easygoing with the other dogs. She has that lovely Lab-mix quality of being happy to be included, happy to be near her people, and ready to learn what comes next.We think Grace could fit into so many different kinds of families. She could be the puppy running around the backyard with children, the sweet companion waiting for her person to come home at the end of the day, or the goofy new addition to a young couple just beginning their life together. She could also be the puppy who brings a little new energy and laughter into the life of an empty-nest family. What she probably isn't looking for is a home hoping for a permanent couch potato. Grace is young, growing, and eventually she's going to need room to be silly, playful, curious, and yes, probably spectacularly goofy. There will be zoomies. There should absolutely be zoomies.Grace is expected to grow into a beautiful 50-pound adult, and we have a feeling that as she grows physically, her confidence is going to grow right along with her. She doesn't need someone looking for a perfectly polished puppy. She needs someone willing to give her a little patience, a lot of encouragement, and the opportunity to discover just how wonderful she really is.If you think Puppy Grace might be the sweet, silly, beautiful girl you've been waiting for, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.
