Description

* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, August 22nd from 12–3 PM (unless adopted prior to the event). All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption Fee: $800 Our Pooh is 4-5 years old. At just 6.8 pounds, Pooh has somehow managed to fit an enormous personality, a serious case of lap addiction, and a surprisingly ambitious social calendar into one very small Pom. He arrived in foster care and immediately decided that meeting new people and dogs was less of a concern and more of a personal hobby. From day one, Pooh has been Mr. Congeniality. Humans? Wonderful. Dogs? Fantastic. A lap? Absolutely magnificent. If Pooh had his way, his entire day would consist of being carried around like the tiny prince he believes himself to be. He loves everybody he meets and has shown absolutely no fearfulness. When he's not working on securing premium lap real estate, Pooh is surprisingly good at entertaining himself. He loves squeaky toys, chasing a ball around his pen, and has recently discovered the joys of pine cones. Yes, pine cones. Apparently, Pooh's idea of a great afternoon is backyard exploration followed by a little light pine-cone chewing. He alternates between bursts of energy and serious lounging, which is really just his way of maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Pooh is also developing quite the reputation with the ladies. He has discovered that he really, really likes other dogs and has attempted to make friends with a little more enthusiasm than everyone has necessarily requested. His foster's older female dog gave him one very clear correction, and he immediately got the message. When Pez came along and decided to return the favor by chasing Pooh around, Pooh got a little taste of his own medicine. Karma apparently weighs approximately 6.8 pounds. Despite his tiny size and occasional moments of questionable decision-making, Pooh is remarkably polite. When his foster opens the x-pen, he doesn't charge out like a tiny furry jailbreak escapee. He sits and waits to be picked up. Honestly, manners matter. He is also an impressively quiet little guy. His first bark didn't happen until about a week into foster care, and even then it was basically a tiny security guard announcement of, “Who goes there?” Pooh is still learning about the whole walking-on-a-leash concept. Right now, he has decided that walking from the car to the house is acceptable, but walking from the car to literally anywhere else is apparently an unreasonable request. He's working on it. He has, however, become quite the experienced passenger, having already been on numerous car rides. Unfortunately, Pooh's stomach has not yet embraced the travel lifestyle, so his foster is still figuring out what works best for him in the car. At home, Pooh enjoys backyard adventures, squeaky toys, naps in his dog bed, and supervising the very important bunny hole under the deck. He will sit and stare at it for as long as his foster allows, apparently convinced that something extremely important is happening down there. And then there is the lap. Pooh LOVES a lap. If you're looking for a tiny Pom who will happily curl up with you and make himself comfortable, Pooh would like to submit his application immediately. His foster describes him as a sweet lovebug whose primary goals when he's out of his pen are exploring and obtaining lap time. Pooh would do well with someone who enjoys having a little sidekick around. He seems perfectly capable of being left alone for several hours, especially with classical music playing in the background, but given the choice, he'd probably vote for a homebody who is available for frequent cuddle breaks. Pooh is tiny, ridiculously cute, wonderfully social, endlessly entertaining, and very serious about his career as a professional lap dog. He is still learning a few things, but his sweet personality makes him awfully easy to root for. If you have room in your life for a 6.8-pound Pom who thinks every person is a potential friend and every lap is a potential residence, Pooh would like to meet you.
