Meet Onyx! Onyx is one of those dogs who just needs someone to believe in him. This handsome boy is around 1 year old and 45 pounds, with the most gorgeous, shiny black coat. We think he may be a Mountain Cur/Lab mix, but whatever his recipe, we know one thing for sure—he is a very special boy. Onyx is a shy and unsure guy who is still learning that people can be kind and that life can be good. We suspect a man may have been unkind to him in his past because he warms up and bonds much more quickly with females. He will need a patient family who understands that trust takes time and will give him the space he needs to adjust to his new life. Once Onyx trusts you, though… watch out for the cuddles! He loves putting his head in your lap and soaking up affection.He absolutely adores other dogs and really needs a confident canine companion in his new home to follow and learn from. He has been doing wonderfully with his foster siblings and takes comfort from having his furry friends around. And cats? He LOVES them! Onyx has even befriended the cat in his foster home and is amazing with cats.He is doing great with his house training and is making good progress with crate training. The leash is still scary for him, so his foster family is working patiently with him. Because he is nervous and isn’t ready to confidently walk on leash yet, a securely fenced yard is a must.Onyx may need a little extra time, patience and encouragement, but he has so much love waiting inside that beautiful, shy boy. He deserves a family who will give him the chance to discover just how wonderful life can be.
