Description
Meet Ginger. Ginger is a 1-year-old Lab who was found as a stray in St. Charles on 7/30/26.When Ginger first arrived, she was very nervous and unsure of this strange new place. Everything around her was unfamiliar, and staff noticed a mass on her chest. She was also lunging at the kennel door when people walked by.Thankfully, with some time to acclimate, Ginger has started to settle in. She's still fearful when someone approaches her kennel, but outside of that space, we're getting to see more of the dog underneath the fear. Potty trained Loves attention Confident and forward with other dogs Responds to handler direction and vocal correctionDuring an interaction with Isabel, Ginger displayed some dominant behaviors, including repeated chin-overs, a flagging tail, and forward body pressure. Isabel did not correct her during the interaction, but Ginger did respond when handlers provided vocal correction.Ginger is still learning. She's a young dog who has found herself in an overwhelming situation, and she's going to need someone who understands that the dog you see behind the kennel door isn't necessarily the dog you'll meet once she feels safe. She deserves someone willing to give her the time to settle, learn, and show them who she really is. Ginger is waiting for someone to see past the fear.
