Meet This Sweet Brown Tabby!This adorable 6-month-old brown tabby may need a little extra care, but she has just as much love to give as any other kitten! She has been diagnosed with megaesophagus, or “Mega-E,” a condition that means she needs some special attention when it comes to mealtime.What is Megaesophagus?Megaesophagus is a condition where the esophagus—the tube that carries food and water from the mouth to the stomach—does not move food down to the stomach normally. Because of this, food and water can remain in the esophagus instead of reaching the stomach as they should.Cats with megaesophagus often need special feeding routines to help them eat and drink safely. For her, that means eating small amounts of food from a raised bowl and having her meals carefully managed. Her adopter will need to be committed to maintaining her feeding routine and monitoring her closely.Because of her medical needs, she will need to be the only animal in the home. This is especially important because she cannot safely eat other animals' food. Even accidentally getting into another pet's food could interfere with her carefully managed diet and potentially put her health at risk. Her new family will need to make sure she does not have access to food that is not intended for her.Having Mega-E doesn't mean she can't enjoy life! With the right care and a dedicated family, she can still be a happy, loving kitten.
