Description
Corky — A Sweet Boy Learning What It Means to Feel Safe Corky is a one-year-old Poodle mix whose story is heartbreaking, but whose future can be so much brighter. He was abandoned along with his brothers and their dad when a tenant left them behind at a cabin in the woods. Corky was even left confined in a crate for two days before anyone found him, so it’s understandable that crates are something he is terribly afraid of. For Corky, the world he knew was very small. He lived outside in the woods with his family, and then suddenly everything he knew was gone. New people, new places and new experiences can still be overwhelming, so Corky is initially very shy, quiet and meek. But give this boy a little time to decompress, a little patience, and a lot of kindness—and you start to see the sweet dog underneath that fear. ❤️ Once he feels safe, Corky enjoys treats, gentle pets and attention. He is eager to please and highly trainable, although he still needs some work on basic manners and would benefit from someone willing to continue teaching him with patience and positive reinforcement. Corky has lived with other dogs and also with a cat, so he already has experience sharing his world with other animals. Corky isn't looking for a perfect home. He needs a patient, understanding person who will let him go at his own pace, give him time to trust, and show him that people can be kind and that home can mean safety. We know there is a sweet, loving boy in there—and we're hoping someone will be willing to take the time to help him find his way out. ❤️ Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com > Corky is ready for his second chance.
