Description

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 72 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Dottie | 8mo Husky Shepherd X | Your goofy, adventurous sidekick Dottie is an adorable 8-month-old, 40-pound Husky Shepherd X who is an absolute goofball with plenty of puppy energy. She is playful, sweet, friendly, and loves toys, Nylabones, car rides, playing in water, and cuddling on the couch. True to her Husky heritage, she can be quite the little talker when she’s nervous or excited, but she is generally quiet when things are calm. She’s also a great car rider and will happily snooze while you’re on the road. Dottie is very dog-friendly and quickly settled into her foster home’s pack of five other dogs. She reads other dogs’ social cues well and would love a home with another active dog who can be her playmate and adventure buddy. She has also done well around the cat in her foster home. She isn’t aggressive toward him, although she may chase a cat who runs because she thinks it’s a game. She hasn’t met children yet, so her foster family hasn’t been able to evaluate her around kids. Dottie is almost completely house trained, although a few accidents can happen while she adjusts to a new environment. She will whine or stand by the door when she needs to go outside. She is also doing wonderfully with her kennel training. She goes in easily when asked, settles right away, sleeps through the night, and can comfortably stay crated when her people are away. On leash, Dottie still has some manners to learn. She likes to pull, but otherwise does well, and she’s a quick learner who should improve with some focused training. She knows sit, wait, and off, although sit and wait are still works in progress. She is very food motivated, which makes training easier, and she responds well to structure and boundaries. Dottie is an energetic girl who needs about 1–2 hours of activity each day and would thrive with an active family that enjoys walks, hikes, adventures, and plenty of playtime. A home with another active, playful dog would be ideal, although she could also thrive as the only dog if her people are committed to keeping her active. Dottie can be a little people-averse and seems to have had experiences that make her unsure of humans. She currently prefers the company of dogs, but she is extremely food motivated and is learning quickly that people are pretty great. She has already started seeking out cuddles on the couch with her foster parents, and her affectionate side will likely continue to blossom as she builds trust. Dottie is a wonderful puppy with a silly personality, a big heart, and so much potential. For the right active family willing to give her some patience, consistency, and plenty of exercise, she could be an amazing adventure companion.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $450. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
