Animal Information: Baxter was brought into the Stanislaus shelter by a citizen who had had an accidental litter of 11 puppies. His 10 brothers and sisters were rescued or adopted, but Baxter was sadly skipped over. Due to his age and overcrowding in the shelter, he was placed on the red list for euthanasia. We saw his sweet, scared little 12lb puppy and had to step up for him. Baxter is now safe, and in need of a soft place to land and some TLC. We can't wait to see him transform into the happy go lucky pup we know is in there. Foster Profile:  Baxter is the coolest dog ever! After a couple days to decompress he let his coolness shine.  He has had no accidents in the house. He barks to go outside. He goes to his kennel at bedtime and sleeps through the night. He gets along with my resident dog as well as the neighboring dogs. He is social enough to greet strangers, smart enough to entertain himself, and active enough to keep me entertained. He let me trim his nails without complaint and is working on leash management.  All of this and he is still a puppy.  Baxter has proven himself to be a potential star. He us looking for a family with time to continue training and room to let him explore. Baxter is looking for a home with a securely fenced yard, and playful cannine companion that he can learn from. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian.
