KARMA DOESN’T NEED JUST ANYBODY. SHE NEEDS THE RIGHT SOMEBODY.If you walk past Karma’s kennel, you may hear her bark or growl and think, Lord, that dog is mean. But the truth is, our girl is scared to death in that kennel. The noise, strangers approaching her space, and not knowing what is fixing to happen next can overwhelm her. When Karma gets scared, she tries to make whatever is frightening her back up and leave her alone.We aren’t going to sugarcoat her behavior, because finding the right home matters too much. Karma has a history of guarding and being very protective of her home and her people. She can be selective about people, and she can display aggressive behavior in certain situations. Karma is NOT appropriate for a home with children. That is a firm requirement, not something we are willing to experiment with.But please don’t mistake that for Karma being an aggressive dog toward everything around her. Karma is not simply “dog aggressive.” She can do well with other dogs. Like plenty of dogs, however, she may not like every dog she meets, and proper, slow introductions are important. Any resident dogs would need to be considered individually and introduced appropriately before we could determine whether they are a good match. Karma also needs to be cat tested. We do not currently want to label her as cat-friendly or not cat-friendly until that evaluation has been done. According to Karma’s previous owner, she did well with chickens and other farm animals. We think that history is important to share, especially for someone with a farm or property, but it is owner-reported information rather than a guarantee. Any animals in a potential home still need to be considered individually and introduced safely.And then there is the Karma we get to see when she finally feels safe. ❤️Get this girl out of that kennel, hand her one of her beloved toys, give her a little time, and goodness gracious—you start seeing somebody completely different. She plays, takes treats, interacts with people, and once she decides you’re safe, she can turn into the biggest ol’ baby you’ve ever seen. She’ll crawl into your lap, melt against you, and lick you half to death.That’s what makes this girl so heartbreaking. Karma has already lost two homes. We don’t want to send her into a third one simply because somebody feels sorry for her and has a big heart.Karma needs experience.We would love to reach a professional trainer, behavior professional, experienced handler, or somebody with genuine experience handling fearful, protective, guarding, or reactive dogs. She needs somebody with the time to let her decompress, earn her trust, work with her, and manage situations appropriately instead of expecting everything to be perfect in a week.Karma may never be the dog who wants every stranger walking through her front door, and her future person needs to be okay with that. She needs someone who understands that being protective of her people and home requires responsible management—not somebody who ignores her warning signs or puts her into situations where she’s set up to fail.We don’t need a hundred applications for Karma. We need ONE right one.Someone without children. Someone experienced. Someone patient. Someone willing to take introductions slowly. Someone who has the time and knowledge to give this scared girl the stability she’s been missing.Please don’t ask about Karma simply because her story makes you sad. Ask about her because you’ve read the difficult parts too, understand exactly what we’re telling you, and still believe you have the experience and home she needs.And if that isn’t you, please share her with somebody who might be.
