Description

Monet is estimated to be 3 years old, is neutered, FeLV/FIV negative, and up to date on vaccines. He was found on the streets in Chelsea and admitted to the ER due to being incredibly dehydrated and skinny. He has been nursed back to health in foster care, and is now ready for adoption! This is what his foster volunteer says about him:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Monet is a very well rounded cat; he's social without being annoying, playful without being obsessed, and there's nothing cuter than cuddling him in your arms like a baby. Monet is quite social -- he likes to be where the action is. If you're playing cards, he's going to sit in the middle next to the card pile. If you're watching TV, his head is going to be on your legs. Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes, he does! If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? He loves his nose scratched and the top of his head.  Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? He doesn't like being touched near his tail, belly, or legs.  Does the cat come on your lap? Occasionally he will. His preferred snuggle method is to lean against your legs when you're sitting and put his head on them.  Does the cat like to be held? Yes, he does! In fact, he likes being held like you would a baby. It's adorable.  Does the cat sleep in your bed? No, he prefers to do his own thing at night.  Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, in particular when he wants more food, or to play or be pet.   Does the cat like to play? Yes, he does. He's very acrobatic and quick on his feet.  What are the cat's favorite games and toys? He loves playing with a feather wand and attacking his scratching post.  How vocal is the cat? He's only vocal when he wants food.  What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Moderate meows.  Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes, he frequently uses his upright scratching post.  Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes, he does.  What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? He's been free-fed since he was underweight when he arrived. He has only eaten wet food with us.  Is the cat picky about food? Yes, he is very particular about his wet food. He prefers specific flavors of Reveal and Fancy Feast. He usually prefers pate and Reveal chicken in broth.  What is the cat's favorite treat? He does not like hard treats and hasn't been interested in Churu.    What medication is the cat on, and how is it administered? None   Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Yes, if you're touching him in an area that he doesn't like or he's had enough, he'll give a warning swat. We've found the swats decrease if he has adequate playtime with his feather wand.    Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No.     Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Yes, he'll swat and nip if he doesn't like where you're petting him or if he's had enough. Playtime has reduced this, as well as knowing where he prefers to be pet and reading his body language.     Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No.  To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? He's initially fearful, but usually warms up within 20 minutes and is back to being social.    If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? N/A.  Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? He is an expert flopper and when he wants attention he'll flop right in front of you. He also purrs a lot when pet and is shockingly unafraid of the vacuum cleaner.  What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? See above re: swatting and nipping.
