Description

Scout  is sweet, loyal, and an all around great pup!  She’s estimated to be approximately 1-2 years old, and she loves kids, other dogs, and everyone she meets.  She’s currently being fostered by a family with two young boys who love on her constantly, and she has been gentle and patient with all of their shenanigans.   Scout  wants to be with her people as much as possible, and would do well with a family that does not need to leave her alone for long periods (a family with someone who works from home would be ideal).  She loves to ride - she’ll be thrilled to accompany you on errands and outings, and she is learning how to play (she doesn’t quite understand fetch or toys, but she loves going for walks, hikes, and even runs when the weather isn’t so hot). She also does not understand the meaning of personal space, she wants to be right by your side (getting lots of belly rubs), and she loves to snuggle in bed at night.     Scout  was found as a stray and brought to SGSR with no information on her history.  She is potty trained, knows basic commands, but can be anxious  in a crate.  She also has a sensitive stomach and requires sensitive stomach food to avoid bladder issues.   Scout ’s vet describes her as having all the traditional features of a classic German Shepherd, but the personality of a Golden Retriever.  She has not been specifically cat tested, but given how much she loves small dogs, I think she’d probably do ok with them.  I also think it could be beneficial for her to be in a home with another dog so she would have a companion.   Fair warning -  Scout  is a counter surfer and trash can opener, so a dog-proofed kitchen is recommended.    She is definitely an amazing, sweet, and smart girl who will do great in most homes!   She is being fostered in Charlotte, NC.  if you live in North Carolina or Virginia, please go to our website and fill out an application www.southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com
